So my computer has slowly been dying. Weird things have been happening. The screen is getting glitchy. And nowadays I can't edit a video without the harddrive seizing up and shutting off.

I am currently unemployed. No, wait. THIS IS my job. I make t-shirts, I make videos, I do interviews with interesting and intelligent people, and then make that content available to you.

I don't make any money via ad revenue. This is ad-free content.
I don't get paid by any corporation. I rely on the support of you, the audience (just like NPR does.)

While I am searching constantly for side-work to help pay the bills, the only callbacks I'm getting are for things like medical jobs I'm not qualified or suited for, and valet parking. I'm actually hoping to take a valet parking job, where I'll be making $5 an hour. That's where I'm at right now.

I'm not asking you to buy me a new computer. I'm asking for help with getting a computer so that I can continue to produce the content you apparently like (for some reason).

Should Obama and Congress be arrested under NDAA for supporting Al Quida?

Welcome to the beautiful and surreal reality of life under American corporatism, under a Congress that churns out thousands and thousands of pages of (often contradictory) legislation a year.

If providing material assistance to al-Qaeda is illegal under the National Defence Authorization Act (2012), and Obama and Congress are sending $25 million of aid to al-Qaeda-affiliated Syrian opposition, aren’t Congress and President Obama violating their own law? Should Obama (or at least the Justice Department) not be using “all necessary and appropriate force” including “the power to indefinitely detain” to prevent Obama and Congress from assisting al-Qaeda? Did anyone in Congress or the Obama administration even bother to read the law that they were signing?

Do Federal laws no longer apply to lawmakers?

Is Obama Incompetent, Cowardly, or Malevolent?

an great sample of logical thinking by Lucien Maverick

"I previously had written a post where I had asked the question of if Obama was malevolent, or merely incompetent. I posed the idea that there are three liberal narratives that currently go around about Obama. The first is that he wants to do things, but the Republicans block him at every turn. I immediately discarded this option, because there was too much evidence against it. The second is that he never wanted to do any of what he said, and that he wanted to continue the Bush Doctrine. The third is that he did want to make good on his promises to the American people, but was simply too cowardly to stand his ground. Recent events have proven that neither the first nor the third narrative are correct. The second is the correct one. Obama is a malevolent force working against the American people.

The first major indication that Obama was playing dumb and really working to continue the Bush Doctrine was the acceptance speech that he gave when he received his Nobel Peace Prize. He basically said that it doesn’t matter what anybody else thinks, America can do whatever the hell it wants, without consequences. That was the first major hint.

The next was when he failed to live up to his mandate of closing Guantanamo, instead, he pretty much franchised it. That was the next big hint that something was very off about his character. Next up came the Bush Tax Cuts. Obama could very easily have stood his ground, and said that he would veto anything that they put on his desk. He could have told them that there would be no fly with this. Instead, he gave the Republicans more than even Bush II had given them. Bush hadn’t been so generous, so that gives kind of a statement of where Obama stands.

The next big clue was the Debt Ceiling debate. This was another instance where Obama could have stood his ground, because everybody who is politically aware knew that the Republicans were bluffing. There was no way that they were going to not raise the debt ceiling. With the AARP breathing down their necks and the old people saying “You damn well better get me my Social Security!”, we all knew that it was a bluff. Again, he gave them everything that they want and more. He barely even hid it.
"

[...]

"With the 2012 elections just around the corner, the big question becomes – what should we do? The liberals like me really have nobody to turn to. All of the Republican candidates are jokes. Newt Gingrich is an idiot. Michele Bachmann is insane. Rick Perry is a bigot. Rick Santorum is a dumbass and a bigot. Mitt Romney is the Republican version of Obama (except he’s open about his malevolence, whereas Obama is trying to mask his as 'change')."

There is more in over at the original post, but this excellent set of paragraphs above is what really struck a chord with me. Laying out the history of betrayal of the base, it really seems to me that the Democratic Loyal has a severe case of Stockholm Syndrome.

I'd also like to point out that Liberals and Progressives DO have a place to go, where they can vote for somebody who is neither evil, nor insane.

Dr. Jill Stien is running for President with the Green party.

She's working to get ballot access in all 50 states, and thanks to increasingly exclusive and arcane ballot access laws put in place by both the GOP and DNC to keep third party candidates from challenging their duopoly, we are going to need to work extra hard to make sure that she is an option that we can vote for in 2012.

So that means we need to start working on it NOW.

[MUSIC] - WAR CRY

Lyrics:

I don’t know what I’ve been told

you can win the war but you’ll lose your soul

you can drop a bomb that will burn a hole

through everything you love and know

Brothers face down in the soil

your machine it runs on oil

brothers face down in the mud

your machine it runs on blood

you pretend that it’s anything but wrong

(war cry)

All this death and all this strife

so you can life your American life

we cannot quench our lust for more

we lost our soul but we won the war

Uncle sam can lend a hand

brothers face down in the sand

I don’t know what I’ve been told

you can win the war, but you lose your soul

you pretend that it’s anything but wrong

(war cry)

OTHER STUFF:

* I'm headed back down to #OWS tonight, and I'll be there till very late Sunday night (actually 1:30am Sunday morning).  I'm doing some volunteer work for the documentary I worked on previously.  I really want to see the project through now that I've been working on it for so long.  If you're at OWS at anytime during that period, say hello!

* Yet another big thank you to PE Nolan for letting me crash on her couch.

THIS is extremely exciting:  A contingent from #OWS is marching from NYC all the way to Washington DC, covering 20 miles a day for two weeks straight.  Holy smokes this is awesome.

* The next 16 people to order t-shirts from my Etsy store will get a copy of my band's cd FOR FREE!

* My band, Theodore Treehouse, just launched a kickstarter project for our second album.  We're trying to raise $8,000 to a) pay for recording b) pay for mastering c) pay for publishing and d) repair our van so we can e) go on a tour of all the Occupied cities in the USA.  Which is getting to be a larger number every day.  We're raising the money in $10 and $20 increments.  So that's a lot of people.

Bernie Sanders vs Obama: Here's the Algebra

From DraftBernieSanders2012.org

The first three items on this list are obvious, or should be, with the recent collapses of Obama around the Bush Tax Cuts, and cuts to medicare and Social Security, and the fact that we're now involved in 4-ish illegal, undeclared wars now.

The next few are less obvious.

So let me help a little:

Protect Environment

: Obama does not oppose the coal industry. He does not oppose mountain top removal. In doing so, he has implicitly decided that the people of West Virginia and the Tennessee Valley are expendable pawns. We are all willing to kill those people to have cheap electricity. He does not oppose nuclear power, which is insane. Nuclear power requires the burning of coal to generate electricity for enriching uranium. And the nuclear waste lasts for tens of thousands of years. To put that in perspective, 20 thousand years ago, human beings were living in caves and wearing animal pelts.

Invest in Public Education and Jobs

: This is more of a sin of inaction than anything. I do not want to discount the fact that thanks to the Obama Whitehouse and the Democrats in congress, we now have student debt forgiveness. After something like 40 years-- that is. While it's SOMETHING, it does nothing to fix the problem, and it's not the sort of bold leadership that we need to get our country out of the toilet.

Bernie Sanders supports universal college education. That means you go to college, study what you want, and the government picks up the tab. Sound like Soviet Russia? Try Denmark. Or Finland or Norway. Or even Cuba or Argentina. All of which are kicking our ass when it comes to secondary education graduation rates, literacy rates, math, science, etc. Wait --Cuba is kicking our ass in education? They're shit poor! Ah, but so are 60% of Americans, especially after college.

And none of the youth in these places have to worry about being saddled with debt, and so they are free to spend time as entrepreneurs, building up businesses from the ground up, and creating innovative technology.

Curb Corporate Greed

The "Wall Street Reform" bill was a total fucking joke. Goldman Sachs was Obama's top donor.
Bernie Sanders supports the kind of REAL reform that would make the gambling that ruined the economy to start with illegal. We have not seen any push to reinstate the Glass-Steagall act from the White House. They've remained tepid servents of Wall Street proposing limp reforms that are little more than showboating for the Democratic Party's base.

Protect Civil Rights

This one hits close to home for me. Obama voted for the FISA reform bill that gave the US Gov't unprecedented new powers to spy on American citizens. I found that I was on a long list of people who Verizon monitored and turned information over to the Government without a warrant or suspicion, but because of the FISA bill, neither I nor the ACLU could do anything to sue them for violating my rights to privacy. Then there's the whole thing about claiming the right to assassinate US citizens suspected of terrorism.

It's also been under the Obama Administration that we've seen these creepy "If you see something, say something" spots, with Janet Napalitano telling Wal*Mart shoppers to turn their neighbors in to the Homeland Security Dept.

Protect Rights in the Workplace

While the Progressive base of the DNC has been rallying around worker's rights in Wisconsin, Maine, Ohio, and all over the USA, Obama has remained silent. Another sin of inaction.

And that's just what I can think of off the top of my head. If you can think of any of the other damning things I've missed, please let me know and I'll add them.

Is Bin Laden really dead?

does it matter?

So a lot of people now, on the far left and far right, are clamoring to see the photo of Bin Laden’s headwound.

And since our government has a long history of bald-faced lying to us, it’s understandable that people don’t trust anything the government says.

Afterall, the film “Wag the Dog” was based on the real life PR campaign undertaken by the Pentagon during the first Gulf War in Iraq.

And we found out about the “wag the dog” moments during the second war in Iraq, with the bogus rescue of Private Jessica Lynch, and the falsified accounts of Pat Tillman’s death.

In the immortal words of the zen sage George W Bush, “ya fool me once, shame on, shame on you. Fool me twice... Fool me, can’t get fooled again.”

So if Bin Laden had been dead for years from kidney failure, and he’s been used as a boogeyman to justify the war on terror and the insane clampdown on our civil liberties, and they’re lying now to save face for the fact that he’s been dead for years, or to make us feel like we won a victory, and the reason he as buried at sea is because there never was a body, and the reason why they won’t release the photos is because there are none, given that that assumption is true, what are we being lied to about?

The fact that the boogeyman is dead? If this means that I can get on an airplane without having my balls fondled;
If that means we bring our troops home from Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Libya, and close down the 700 military bases around the world; if that means that we stop viewing our neighbors with suspicion that they might be a terrorist; that instead of mistaking Arabs for Terrorists we go back to just mistaking them for Mexicans, if we can shake the existential fear of terrorism from our national psyche and start behaving like mature adults instead of lashing out in fear at everything that moves like dogs owned by Michael Vick, then I’m comfortable with being lied to about this.

If my parents told me when I was a kid that if I didn’t do what they told me to the boogeyman would get me, and then later, when I refused to fall asleep at night because I was scared, they told me that they searched under the bed, found the boogeyman, and killed him, is that wrong?

What do you think?

Inconsistencies in the Osama Bin Laden story

First thing I want to know:

If it's true what they first said, that they have facial imaging technology to confirm that their target was indeed Osama, and the folks in the Whitehouse really did see the whole thing go down as it happened, why are the details of the story changing every time they tell it?

First version of events: Osama lived in a multi-million dollar mansion, there was a firefight, and Osama went down guns blazing. He hid behind a women and used her as a human shield. She was killed. He was killed.

Second version of events: Osama lived in a relatively expensive house in the suburbs. There was a firefight, but Osama wasn't armed, but had to be killed, because he violently resisted arrest. The lady in question wasn't actually killed, she was injured when a stray bullet hit her in the leg. She was later taken to a hospital.

Third version of events: Osama lived in a concrete chicken coop. Only one person fired a gun, he was killed. Everybody else was disbursed throughout the house, but were unarmed. They were either shot and killed or arrested. The lady in question was actually shot and killed, but Osama didn't hide behind her, she used her own body to protect him out of her own free will.

Now there are weird bastard child versions of all three events floating around news agencies on the web.

These are all drastically different versions of what happened. Drastically different. If a 10 year old kid told me a story like this and changed the details around as much as the White House has, I would tell that kid to his face that I thought he was lying to me.

Especially if that kid had a long history of lying to me.
Like about how Saddam Hussein sought significant quantities of yellowcake uranium from Niger.
Like the Gulf of Tonkin incident.
Like the circumstances around Pat Tillman's death.
Like the Jessica Lynch "rescue."
Like how in the 1990s iraqi military pulled kuwaiti babies out of incubators and threw them onto bayonets. [pdf]
Like that flight 93 was shot down (or that it was crashed by the passengers? Or was it both?)
Like the Anthrax attacks after 9-11 being from Saddam Hussein (it was from a US military base.)

I don't fault conspiracy theorists for thinking everything the government says is a deception. Our government faces a crisis of legitimacy, like the boy who cried wolf.

Second thing I want to know:

Why is it that we're so goddamned surprised that Pakistan's ISI "didn't know" where Osama was? Really? Because it was reported in mainstream news a long time ago, that Pakistan's ISI was letting Al Qaeda use their training camps. Yeah. ISI training camps were Al Qaeda training camps. We knew this BEFORE the wikileaks report, in which we learn our own government knew this was true, and has known for some time.

Why don't these news reporters get off their ass and do FIVE MINUTES of investigation of their OWN NEWS AGENCY REPORTS. BBC anchors are wondering aloud why Pakistan didn't know where Osama Bin Laden was. And the BBC reported that Mohammad Atta's paymaster was an official in the ISI. And the BBC reported that the ISI's camps were used be Al Qaeda.

Here's an article from the NYTimes in July of last year, that all but says this was the case.

This film, "Aftermath: Unanswered Questions" was one of the first "truther" films. It was produced by the Guerilla News Network, a pioneer in internet based news, the organization has since gone defunct. But their material is still floating around. There is conjecture in this film, and also lots of facts. One fact reported on in this film, is that the ISI and Al Qaeda trained at the same camps. Wikileaks confirms this.

Third thing I want to know:

This is all looking shady as fuck. The Pentagon is paying money to Pakisatn's ISI, and the ISI is giving money to Al Qaeda.
Is it that the Pentagon is THAT STUPID? Quite possibly. We have been, after all, paying off the Taliban in Afghanistan in order to move weapons and supplies to our troops who are fighting with... the Taliban.

But it's easy with just the few facts and anomalies here, to make an assumption that 9-11 was a self-inflicted wound either on purpose or on accident, or that the story of Osama Bin Ladens death is a "Wag the Dog" moment. There is also no actual proof of that. But you have to ask yourself:

WHAT THE FUCK?!

Dennis Kucinich running for President in 2007

So Google Video is shutting down, and I've moved the videos over from my Google Video account to my YouTube account. I had the opportunity to re-watch them, and one that stood out was this video that I uploaded (but did not shoot) while I was working for Dennis Kucinich's presidential campaign back in 2007.

Listening to this speech, and seeing how Obama has courted Wall Street at the expense of working people, courted big energy companies at the expense of working people, and continued with the policies of spying on the American Public, and created a new policy of claiming the extra-judicial right to assassinate US citizens deemed to be terrorists, I just have to ask-- WHAT THE FUCK?
