As a Canadian who lived and worked in the US for seven years, I can verify to you that, despite the lies you may have heard, the Canadian single payer system is head and shoulders above the current US system in both access and quality. The public option would probably be OK, but I suggest going for single payer. I found the US system, when I lived there, to be very restricted in access by insurance companies and the quality was way below what I was used to in Canada.
Just a thought, not exactly Canadian Health Care directly per se, but this has an effect on Canadian Health Care.... also consider we have 10% of the population of the US.... about 33,213,000
